Manchester City defender Kyle Walker keen on extending his stay there despite Bayern talks and a shоck link with Liverpool
As per the Daily Mail, Kyle Walker wants to stay at Manchester City and extend his contract despite interest from Bayern Munich and a shоck link with Liverpool.
A couple of days ago, it was revealed that the England international was in advanced talks with the German champions over a deal.
Liverpool, somehow, were linked with a move for him. Although we know anything can happen in the football transfer market, this was beyond any sort of imagination.
It is only sane that Walker is now keen on staying put at City and extending his contract there. It serves him well to stick around there and complete his trophy-laden career (albeit amidst corruption charges hаnging over the club).
The 33-year-old won the treble with Pep Guardiola and City but was not given a start in the Champions League final. He wasn’t always the first-choice option at right-back for Pep, but the experience came in handy when the going got tough.
As useless as the initial link, the new update to it should not bother Liverpool much. One can hardly imagine that the Reds were seriously interested in signing Walker of all people, given his age and the fact he plays for our newfound rivals.
Jurgen Klopp could indeed do with a right-sided versatile defender to either complement Trent Alexander-Arnold or add competition. Calvin Ramsay has expectedly struggled in his debut season (what else did we expect?)
Ajax’s Jurrien Timber was linked with Liverpool, but the latest on it is that Arsenal have made an offer to sign the Dutchman and are confident of completing the deal. That should not happen if the lure of the Reds is there (unless they do not want the player).
