Transfer news: Man Utd in talks with Rabiot, 12 players set to be sold this summer

Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, is having a difficult summer.

The Dutch manager appears to have moved on to other targets after Chelsea rejected three of his offers for Mason Mount. He hasn’t yet closed a significant business agreement, though.

And 217 days after the Glazer family first disclosed their plans to sell the club, the protracted takeover saga continues in the background. Fans are growing impatient as well, and Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are still in the dark about who will win the bаttle for control.

United names Sancho and 12 other stars as the price

As part of a massive Old Trafford cleanout this summer, United will expect roughly £45 million for Jadon Sancho.

The Red Devils would be “open” to selling him at a significant discount from the original amount that brought him to Old Trafford because he has only scored 12 goals in 79 games since signing in 2021. The same could be said for a number of other celebrities, such as Anthony Martial and Harry Maguire.

The two were acquired from Leicester and Monaco for £85 million and £36 million, respectively (£58 million with potential add-ons). Their respective asking costs were reportedly £40 million and £25 million. Additionally preparing to go are Donny van de Beek, Fred, Anthony Elanga, Scott McTominay, Dean Henderson, Hannibal Mejbri, Alex Telles, Brandon Williams, Eric Bailly, and Zidane Iqbal.

Rabiot’s transfer completes a circle

With his pursuit of Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot appearing to be back at the beginning, manager Erik ten Hag might be experiencing a sense of déjà vu.

The Dutch manager has given up on trying to get Chelsea striker Mason Mount and is now considering other options. United has had three offers for the England player rejected, and it appears that they are unwilling to negotiate the London club’s request to up their offer to £58 million plus add-ons.

A fresh twist has since arisen with claims that the player is planning to stay with his club in Serie A, despite Ten Hag reaching out to Rabiot 12 months after his initial offer. Rabiot will reportedly sign a contract extension with Juventus as soon as Wednesday, according to Corrieredellosport.
