Man Utd dislodges ‘fierce opponent’, leading the race signing the most ‘diverse’ defender

Barcelona is said to have ‘no intention’ of bringing in a new right-back this summer, which might help Manchester United in their pursuit of Premier League-linked Benjamin Pavard and Amar Dedic.

Remember when United struggled for what seemed like an eternity without a conventional right-back? Several Old Trafford fans were amused. Is Antonio Valencia’s somewhat forced transition from marauding winger to aging full-back the football equivalent of applying a sticking plaster on a broken leg?

According to Marca, r/u/m/o/r/s that La Liga leaders Barcelona have postponed plans to buy a new right-sided defender may elicit a similarly disgruntled response from the Blaugrana faithful.

Sergi Roberto is 31. Sergino Dest is not at the needed level. Meanwhile, Ronald Araujo and Jules Kounde are much more at ease in the center. And the less said about Hector Bellerin, the better.

But, with another summer of cost-cutting at Camp Nou approaching, it seems that Barcelona is reserving whatever finances they do have for other sections of Xavi’s team. This might play into the hands of Manchester United, who just knocked Barcelona out of the Europa League.

Would Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard wind up at Manchester United?

According to The Athletic, United is in contact with Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard. The World Cup-winning France international is known for his thundering long-range finishes. Argentina and Republic of Ireland fans will tell you that. In 2022/23, he has seven goals for both the club and the nation.

Yet Pavard’s eye for the fantastic isn’t the only thing he brings to the table.

He, like Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez, would come with an impressive collection of silverware. Pavard has won 13 awards in his professional career, including three Bundesliga crowns with Bayern. The 27-year-old is also very flexible, capable of excelling as both a right-back and a center-half.

Diogo Dalot is still out of form, while Aaron’s Wan-future Bissaka’s is unknown. As a result, 90Min believes that Manchester United is also interested in Red Bull Salzburg’s next youngster. Bosnian prodigy Amar Dedic is youthful, attack-minded, technically brilliant, and well-suited to Ten Hag’s style.

Barcelona is also allegedly interested in Dedic [Sport] and Pavard [ESPN]. Mundo Deportivo has also connected them to Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot.

If Marca is correct and Barcelona will not sign a new right-back this summer, Manchester United may have a cleaner run at two prospective targets than they would have imagined.

“(Pavard) will be one of the finest moves we’ve ever made,” Bayern veteran Uli Hoeness told Sport1 in 2018.

“It seemed evident to me that he might be a fantastic acquisition.” Especially because of his outstanding character.”

Pavard may not have met such lofty expectations. But, with his contract expiring and his r/u/m/o/r/e/d worth of £25 million, a player of his enormous experience, tactical versatility, and title-winning knowledge might prove to be a fantastic addition on and off the field (Sport1).

Manchester United transfer information: Negotiations with the representatives of Jeremie Frimpong have begun

Manchester United has begun talks with the representatives of Jeremie Frimpong.

Manchester United’s search for a new right-back is intensifying. Jeremie Frimpong is at the top of the club’s list.

According to Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg, “talks between his agent Jeffrey Lemmert and @ManUtd have begun!” The first round was positive. Ten Hag respects the player. Frimpong is available to depart Leverkusen in the summer.”

Frimpong has eight goals and nine assists for Bayer Leverkusen this season, for a total of 17 goal contributions from his full-back position.

The 22-year-old former Celtic defender has been on Manchester United’s radar since late last year.

Manchester United was unable to sign Frimpong in January due to a lack of cash. The defender is under contract until 2025.
