According to Mark Bartelstein, guard Dennis Schroder and the Toronto Raptors have reached a two-year, $26 million agreement, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Friday.
Prior to the previous campaign, Schroder agreed to a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, and in November he started playing regularly in the rotation. During the regular season, he made 50 starts and averaged 12.6 points, 4.5 assists, and 41.5% field goal shooting.
After the Lakers changed their lineup at the trade deadline in February, Schroder was one of the few early-season holdovers who continued to see action. He played the fifth-highest number of minutes per game for the Lakers in the postseason, which was crucial to their unexpected run to the Western Conference finals.
Schroder, 29, is a quick point guard with a talent for getting into the paint. He has improved as a defender at the point of attack, however his shooting percentage from outside the arc can fluctuate. With eight of his ten NBA seasons ending in the postseason, he also has a wealth of playoff experience.
