Caicedo, meanwhile, has been touted as a viable possibility as Liverpool tries to rebuild their midfield in the summer.
The Daily Mail claims in an article on the Reds’ chances of acquiring a new goalkeeper with Caoimhn Kelleher poised to go that Caicedo is one of the alternatives that have been discussed ahead of what is anticipated to be a busy summer that Caicedo is one of the options that have been explored.
They may have their job cut out for them, as the Ecuador international signed a new deal with Brighton last month after Arsenal tried to recruit him in January.
The ‘heir’ to Roberto Firmino has already given his approval to the Liverpool move amid a ‘$49.6 million proposal.’
Roberto Firmino has said that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, and for the second time in a year, Liverpool supporters will be saying goodbye to another Jürgen Klopp legend, after the departure of Sadio Mané last summer.
Firmino’s exit, although deeply felt, is unquestionably the correct one. Both the athlete and the club benefit from this. Liverpool is at a critical time for the club’s long-term future.
Klopp certainly has reached his limit, and his group is one of the oldest in the Premier League. He has assembled a squad that has triumphed above all odds. But now he has to start again, and although he may save portions of the previous house’s foundations, he cannot keep everything.
So does Liverpool need a Firmino replacement? The question is no longer relevant. Liverpool seems to have replaced Firmino with Cody Gakpo, as it did with Mané last season when Luis Enrique was brought in during the January transfer window.
But it doesn’t mean Liverpool doesn’t need to sign another player. There will continue to be a gap in the assault. It might be a less-like-for-like substitute. Similar to how Darwin Nez came in last summer to provide Klopp with a new sort of offensive threat.
Liverpool’s priority this time should be the right wing. Mohamed Salah is still going strong, but at 31 years old this summer, he won’t be around for much longer, particularly if he is to be depended on the right side. Liverpool currently lacks an acceptable backup option for him, and that type of pressure can be taxing on a player. Take, for example, Fabinho’s downturn this season.
Thus the ideal offensive addition for Liverpool would be someone who could relieve Salah’s burden while also providing depth in other areas of the attack. He would be a hybrid option, and it seems that is precisely what Liverpool is looking for right now.
Liverpool is contemplating a $49.6 million (£40 million/€45.5 million) offer for Eintracht Frankfurt’s 23-year-old Danish forward, Jesper Lindstrom, according to transfer analyst Ekrem Konur.
The lively offensive midfielder, who has mostly played in the attacking midfield position for Frankfurt this season, can also play on the right wing and has done so on multiple times this season while contributing 13 goals to his team.
Lindstrom, who is quick and direct, has previously played in central midfield and holding midfield positions, as well as center-forward and left-winger. He has served in nine different jobs in all. He certainly seems like the sort of player who would fit in well with Klopp.
The Liverpool manager enjoys working with flexible players and developing them to his liking, which makes Lindstrom an excellent match, particularly given his ability to play in midfield, which might help Klopp fix another issue area.
But it’s not simply his adaptability that makes him a desirable prospect at Anfield. Lindstrom has previously praised Liverpool and claimed to be a lifelong Reds fan, even noting how it would be “great” for him to transfer to the club in the future.
“I’ve always mentioned that I’m a Liverpool fan, so it may be incredibly wonderful to play for Liverpool at some time,” Lindstrom previously said on TV 2’s ‘Frstevaelger,’ according to the ECHO.
There has never been a finer match for Liverpool. Lindstrom is one to keep an eye on, whether or not an offer from Liverpool is forthcoming.
