Jimmy Butler recently purchased a residence close to South Miami for $7.4 million while leading the Miami Heat in their quest for an NBA championship.
The house, located in the gated community of Stonegate at 7416 Southwest 49th Place, consists of six bedrooms and six bathrooms.
Property records indicate that an entity controlled by Butler, a five-time NBA All-Star, acquired the property. Situated in an unincorporated area of Miami-Dade County, the house is conveniently located near Coral Gables and South Miami.
During the pandemic, home prices have experienced an upsurge, making Butler’s purchase likely a record for the Stonegate neighborhood, where recent sales have typically been below $5 million.
In the previous year, Butler signed a four-year, $184 million contract extension with the Miami Heat.
The house, spanning 6,148 square feet across two stories, was previously owned by Alejandro and Jolie Dupont and was built in 2000. Property records show that the couple purchased the house for $2.8 million in 2009. The residence is among a collection of 12 homes in Stonegate. Lynley Ciorobea from Berkshire Hathaway Services EWM Realty represented the sellers, while the buyer was represented by Darren Weiner from Celebrity Advisors, according to Zillow.
The listing for Butler’s new property highlights its features, including oak hardwood floors, high ceilings, and upscale finishes. The master bedroom boasts a family room, an office, and a spa-like bathroom. Additional amenities include a saltwater pool, a built-in barbecue area, and a three-car garage.
Butler’s new home is approximately 3 miles away from the nearly 9,000-square-foot property he previously owned. In September, just before the start of the new NBA season, Butler sold his former property to venture investor Reshma Sohoni for $7.1 million.
As the leader of the Miami Heat, Butler has played a pivotal role in the team’s unexpected success this season, currently holding the third position in the Eastern Conference with a 32-20 record.
Professional athletes have been attracted to the area spanning from Pinecrest to Pinecrest-Davis, where Butler’s new home is located, for quite some time. Noteworthy figures such as former New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez, who has transitioned into real estate investment, and former NFL player Desmond Howard reside in the vicinity. Previous Miami Heat stars Dwyane Wade, Chris “Birdman” Andersen, and Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway also owned homes in Pinecrest after their respective departures from the team.
NBA players have been showing less interest in purchasing suburban homes in the eastern region of the country. For instance, Jusuf Nurkic of the Portland Trail Blazers is currently in the process of acquiring a penthouse in the newly constructed E11even Residences Beyond tower situated in downtown Miami. The condominium is expected to sell for a price tag of up to $18 million. Additionally, last year, Victor Oladipo, one of Butler’s fellow Miami Heat teammates, purchased a $7.8 million spec home in Miami Beach, which does not have a waterfront location.
