Liverpool reported want Chelsea super duo ‘even at record price’

Liverpool is quietly moving to entice Chelsea to part with their prized center-back.

LEVI FROM LIVERPOOL

Liverpool has yet to make a center-back acquisition this summer, opting to concentrate on their well-known midfield reconstruction. In the hopes of luring their top target away from Stamford Bridge, they are patiently making defensive reinforcements.

Last season, Levi Colwill made his Premier League debut while playing for Brighton. The 20-year-old is wanted by Brighton, but a £30 million deal has been turned down.

The Blues are prepared to offer Colwill a new long-term deal, and the incoming Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is sure that Colwill is in his plans, but the England Under-21 international needs guarantees over playing time before he commits.

Felix Johnston, a Chelsea insider and journalist, claims that Liverpool has contacted to Colwill’s camp and has informed them that they would be interested “even at a record price” in making a move for the center-back.

Chelsea informed Liverpool that Colwill is not for sale, and Johnstone added that Pochettino and Colwill will speak after the U21 Euros.

Levi must be a regular starter this season in order for Southgate to tell him that he wants to start him at Euro 2024, the author continues.

ASK GUEHI TO TOON

If Liverpool is unsuccessful in acquiring Colwill, they may rekindle their interest in Marc Guehi, albeit it may be too late to sign the Crystal Palace player by that time.

In order to strengthen their defense in advance of their Champions League campaign, Newcastle has identified Guehi as one of their key targets.

The 22-year-old’s price has reportedly increased from Palace’s initial £50 million asking price to £60 million as a result of his recent England breakthrough.

Guehi joined Palace in 2021 for about £20 million and has since earned four England caps, including the victory against Malta in the qualifying match last month.

Arsenal, Spurs, and Manchester United have all previously expressed interest in the player, but he is currently bound to Palace until 2026.
