LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers spent last week in North Augusta, South Carolina, coaching his son Bryce’s 16U basketball team at the prestigious Nike EYBL Peach Jam tournament.
Coached by James and another former NBA player, Rajon Rondo, the team went 3-1 but failed to advance out of pool play due to point differential.
Despite his early exit, James produced some hilarious sideline moments, which were captured in a viral TikTok video shared by Brent Wilson showcasing the many emotions of “Coach LeBron.” As one might expect, James was ecstatic on the sidelines.
For at least one weekend, James was like any other AAU coach, working the referees for calls, drawing plays for his 16-year-old son Bryce and the rest of his Strive For Greatness team, and going through postgame handshake lines. Some social media users commented on the plight of the referees, who had to deal with the complaints of one of the greatest basketball players of all time on the sideline.
James was one of many former NBA stars who attended Peach Jam. Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul, two other members of James’ famous “Banana Boat Crew,” were in Augusta to support their AAU programs Team Melo and Team CP3. Kiyan, Anthony’s son, who is the same age as Bryce James, also took part in the event.
