Security was significantly heightened in Cameroon during the visit of striker Kylian Mbappe to his father’s hometown on July 6. As soon as he arrived in the African country, the PSG player was swiftly transported in an SUV, accompanied by a large security contingent. Armored vehicles were also deployed to ensure Mbappe’s safety during his stay in Cameroon.
Aside from visiting his father’s hometown, Mbappe engaged in charitable initiatives at local schools. The French striker shared a picture on his personal page, depicting the warm reception he received from the people of Cameroon.
Born in the Bondy region of France, Mbappe’s father, Mr. Wilfried, hails from Cameroon, while his mother, Fayza Lamari, was born in Algeria. Both Mr. Wilfried and Mrs. Lamari serve as Mbappe’s representatives.
Before arriving in Cameroon, Mbappe and his friends made a brief trip to the United States. As of now, the player has not returned to training with PSG.
Reports from European media suggest that PSG is willing to sell Mbappe before the start of the 2023/24 season. These speculations were fueled by Mbappe’s recent comments to France Football, in which he expressed dissatisfaction with the internal divisions within the team: “I think playing for PSG doesn’t help much because it’s a team full of divisions. Of course, there’s always gossip, but it doesn’t bother me because I know what I’m doing and I like it. Come on,” Mbappe stated on July 8.
Mbappe’s contract with PSG is set to expire in the summer of 2024. His intention is to fulfill the remaining year of his contract and then decline the option to renew, allowing him to leave the club as a free agent. However, PSG is prepared to sell Mbappe this summer in order to prevent losing him for free next year.
