LeBron James, the standout player for the Lakers, has been the subject of much speculation ever since they were eliminated from the playoffs. After the team’s playoff game against the Denver Nuggets, the forward made some intriguing remarks that prompted a lot of debate among fans and the media.
The majority of people in the industry don’t think that James will actually retire; instead, they think that it was more likely a result of his exhaustion and frustration from a long season that didn’t result in a championship. Although James has dropped some hints along the way, we have not received any formal news regarding the status of any retirement.
James shared images of each player on Instagram after the Lakers signed their free agents. Why would he do this if he was going to retire? He also enjoyed the player-specific team Instagram posts. Again, for a player as analytical as James to do this at random would be quite a coincidence.
However, General Manager Rob Pelinka just made a quick comment on James and his potential retirement, giving more evidence that the King will not be retiring this summer.
James most likely won’t be retiring if he is “putting in behind the scenes work” and will instead play in his 21st season. The King has demonstrated that he is still at the top of his game by scoring 40 points in the Lakers elimination game since we last saw him. Although he may not play as well as he once did, his magnificence is still present.
James will be surrounded by a talented Lakers team as he pursues his fifth NBA championship. The Lakers will have a fantastic chance to win banner 18 if everyone can stay healthy, assuming James does join the club.
