NBA fans were in a frenzy after LEBRON James’ appearance at the ESPN ESPN ESPYs.
Following his appearance at the ESPYs on Wednesday, the NBA legend, 38, was criticized by fans for dressed as a “Spider-Man villain” and for making jokes about it.
James wore an ensemble that had admirers rushing to the internet while in Los Angeles for the award presentation.
The Los Angeles Lakers player looked sharp in a two-piece black suit, but his spectacles stole the show, leading some fans to refer to him as “Doc LeBron,” a play on the name of the Spider-Man villain Doctor Octopus.
Social media was swamped by jokes about the King’s glasses from NBA fans.
A supporter chimed in, “Doc Broctopus.”
Someone someone chimed in, “LeDoctorOctavius.”
One more said, “Lebron dressed like a steampunk evil genius.”
A fourth added with emphasis: “LeBron thinks he’s Doc Oc.”
Despite the jokes, James attended the ceremony to accept a prestigious prize.
He received the Best Record-Breaking Performance honor for surpassing Kareem Abdul Jabbar, who had held the record for the NBA’s all-time scoring average for more than 35 years.
The honor was given to him by his wife Savannah and their three children, Bronny, Bryce, and Zhuri.
James announced that he would not retire this offseason as he accepted the prize.
“I’ll be finished the day I’m unable to give the game everything I’ve got. Thankfully, that day is not today for you folks.
