Watching Steph Curry’s hole-in-one at the American Century Championship on Saturday at the Edgewood Tahoe Resort revved up two other elite athletes.
Curry, who was in the lead after a great first round on Friday, drained his second-ever ace on the seventh hole in his second round.
Curry was unable to accept what had just occurred.
Curry’s hole-in-one was commented on both Kansas Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, both of whom were taking part in the competition.
Curry and fellow Splash Bro Klay Thompson lost to Mahomes and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in TNT’s The Match golf competition a few weeks earlier. On Saturday, however, Mahomes expressed a desire to take Curry’s place.
After his round on Saturday, Curry spoke with media while still feeling the effects of the adrenaline rush after his tremendous shot.
That was wild, man. Curry remarked, “It was right on the stick. “You never really expect the flag to fly, even if you paint it and it looks wonderful.
“And from our vantage point, the crowd around the tee box kind of went crazy when it hit just close to the flag. Before it went inside, it was. And that kind of overpowered the green’s response. I only witnessed a number of hands being raised. After that, you simply become unconscious. Celebrate. Amazing shot. Particularly in a competition like this, that environment. I’m still recovering from the burst of adrenaline. That was crazy.
Curry scored 27 points in the first round on Friday and concluded the day with 23 points using the modified-Stableford scoring system. With 50 total points, the Warriors star presently holds the lead and might claim the title on Sunday. Curry is set to start playing at 9:51 a.m.
