8 key things missed from Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami unveiling

In front of tens of thousands of spectators, Lionel Messi was introduced as an Inter Miami player on Sunday night.

David Beckham is once again at the forefront of a fresh and significant chapter for Major League Soccer as the World Cup champion and seven-time Ballon d’Or winner. Despite a tardy start, the event went on as scheduled, with Beckham, Inter Miami’s controlling owner Jorge Mas, and the rest of the team welcome both Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets to the DRV PNK stadium.

Even if Jordi Alba and Andres Iniesta may yet join the team, this evening was all about one man.

Weather

At about an hour before the unveiling, the weather threatened to wreck the entire evening. Fans at the DRV PNK stadium were pummeled by thunder, lightning, and a downpour. In fact, things became so terrible that security personnel left their places and there was a real possibility that the show wouldn’t even go on.

In actuality, a 40-minute delay was sufficient to allow the weather to improve. Nevertheless, it rained continuously throughout the performance, forcing poor Beckham to carefully ascend a slick staircase.

In addition, there was no indication that keepie-uppies were planned, as they typically are for such occasions – Martin Braithwaite’s awful Barcelona highlight reel comes to mind. Messi and his family greeted everyone and then left the field right away.

A true GOAT

The GOAT rivalry between Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo has raged for years, with many believing the former’s World Cup victory is sufficient proof that he is the victor.

That was the scene for one fan in particular who made the decision to bring a real goat to the game. Although we are unsure if the animal entered the arena, it was undoubtedly attracting lots of attention outside of it.

The animal was being petted, participating in selfies, and probably completely baffled by its unexpected notoriety. The GOAT in human form, however, was in for a great spectacle.

A true celebration and show

Organizing parades is one thing that Americans do well. The DRV PNK stadium was jam-packed, there was an enormous walkway and platform made up on the field, the lighting was dramatic, and the music was blaring.

The rain had stopped by the time Messi left. Not to the supporters who are generating an incredible environment, at least.

To commemorate Messi’s arrival, fireworks were sent off from the stands in the style of the Fourth of July. The length was the only flaw.

Unsteady stream on Apple TV

After MLS accidentally shared a photo of Alvaro Arbeloa instead of Sergio Busquets in a welcome post, they really should have used Apple TV as a streaming partner. An early commercial break appeared to get unintentionally trapped on a broad view of the field. with the presenter overheard asking her producer questions. Thankfully, nobody said anything embarrassing.

Sadly, Beckham’s remarks had a lot of low, poorly reverberated sound. Messi’s Spanish to English translation was still too quiet after it had been adjusted.

It didn’t appear like the coverage was extremely seamless given how quickly the tragedy happened.

Beckham is still quite popular

Lionel Messi is the ultimate prize for the icon of Manchester United and England, who gave his everything to Inter Miami. We must not forget that Busquets is also a just reward.

He entered the field to a roar from the crowd while dressing in his tailored Inter Miami suit and looking as elegant as ever. The 48-year-old also tossed in some Spanish throughout his remarks, which enraged the audience.

“I started my journey to build a new MLS team ten years ago,” he stated. Bringing the best players in the world to the team and the wonderful city of Miami has always been a goal of mine. Players that joined our family shared our desire to develop soccer in this nation, inspire the future generation, and contribute to its lasting legacy. Please pardon me if I seem a little emotional right now. Being able to welcome Lionel Messi to Inter Miami is truly a dream come true.

Beckham may have twice prevented the collapse of Major League Soccer. Once through his own entry, and now by supervising another of enormous size.

Busquets

It’s simple to overlook poor old Busquets in the commotion surrounding Messi. But Miami made a great choice in signing the Spaniard. Seeing that he had his own moment was also lovely. Before Messi took the platform, the 35-year-old spoke briefly.

He welcomed everyone and thanked them for attending. “I’m pleased to be in Miami. Being a part of Inter Miami is a blessing for me, and I want to thank the club’s owner Jorge Mas, Jose Mas, and David Beckham for making it all happen.

“I can’t wait to begin practicing and competing with my teammates. I’ll see you soon.”

Beckham and his new colleagues are promised to Messi

DeAndre Yedlin exclaimed on the field that he was looking forward to this opportunity and having the player he considered to be the best in the world play for his club. The entire team was present for the unveiling, the former Newcastle defender continued. How frequently does that occur now?

Messi truly promised Beckham and his teammates when it was finally his turn to take the stage. He is treating this really seriously; this is not a retirement fund.

“Much appreciated, nice night. First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to Miami’s residents for their kindness and welcome. “I’m overjoyed to be here and with you. For the kind greeting, Jose [Mas] and David [Beckham] are appreciated. Since we arrived, everything has been wonderful and they are making it simple for us.

“I’m eager to get started on my training and compete. I want to succeed so that the club may keep expanding. I’m hoping you’ll join us, as you have every season. I appreciate the welcome from my new coworkers. I’m overjoyed to have selected this project and this place for my family. We’re going to have a great time, I’m sure of it.

“I want to thank you all so much for today.”
