For the first time in the team’s history, the Denver Nuggets won the NBA championship, but their head coach and players are still gushing over their victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.
This time, Bruce Brown, who is no longer a member of the Nuggets after declaring himself a free agency and signing with the Indiana Pacers, has talked about what it was like to play the Lakers. Surprisingly, he claims the series was the easiest one of Denver’s postseason matches.
Bruce Brown recently stated in an interview, “I would say our toughest series was—” “Lakers?” Theo Pinson questioned. Then Brown said, “No. Minnesota.” Pinningson: “Why?” “There was just something about them,” said Brown. They had talented athletes. Like Mike Conley, [Karl-Anthony Towns], [Anthony Edwards], and Phoenix, where every game was a blowout. Pinson: “I thought all of the Lakers’ games were close, though.” Yes, but it never felt like we were going to lose a game, according to Brown. Even though Brown and the other Nuggets players, especially Jokic, declared that it was personal to defeat the purple and gold, the Nuggets swept the Lakers and Brown never felt as though a single game was in jeopardy.
As opposed to winning the championship title for the first time in the franchise’s history, it appears that beating the Lakers was the Denver Nuggets’ biggest playoff accomplishment for head coach Michael Malone and the various Nuggets champions.
