LeBron James, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar, has addressed rumors about his retirement during an emotional speech at the ESPY Awards. The 38-year-old basketball legend assured fans that he will continue to play in the NBA next season.
After the Lakers were eliminated from the NBA playoffs on May 23, LeBron had mentioned that he had a lot to think about regarding his future in basketball. However, he put an end to any speculation during the ESPY Awards when he received an award for Best Record-Breaking Performance after becoming the NBA’s all-time leading scorer last season.
During his speech, LeBron emphasized that what matters most to him is playing the game of basketball without cheating it. He expressed that as long as he can give everything on the floor, he will continue to play. He stated, “The day I can’t give everything on the floor is the day I’ll be done. Lucky for you guys, that day is not today.”
LeBron James is a 19-time All-Star and had an impressive season, averaging 28.9 points and 8.3 rebounds per game over 55 appearances. He agreed to a two-year extension with the Lakers in the 2022 offseason, with a base salary of $47.6 million in 2023 and a player option for the 2024-25 season.

“The real question for мe is – can I play without cheating this gaмe?
“The day I can’t giʋe eʋerything on the floor is the day I’ll Ƅe done.
“Lucky for you guys, that day is not today.”
