Celta Vigo have strengthened their team with the signing of talented Real Madrid midfielder Carlos Dotor

Celta Vigo have added talented Real Madrid midfielder Carlos Dotor to their roster.

The 22-year-old was expected to leave Castilla after they failed to gain promotion to Segunda last season, and he has now found a place in La Liga.

Dotor has never made his first-team debut for Los Blancos, but he has been an important part of their Castilla side over the last three seasons, contributing 29 goals in 88 games from midfield.

According to The Athletic, the fee will be €3 million, with Real Madrid retaining a 50% sell-on clause, similar to recent agreements for Takefusa Kubo and Fran Garcia. It provides Los Blancos with a potential future source of cash as well as the opportunity to repurchase the player at a lower price.

Dotor joins a midfield that also includes Fran Beltran, Luca de la Torre, Williot Swedberg, Renato Tapia, and Gabri Veiga, but the latter two’s future is uncertain. It is unclear what this means for outstanding academy product Hugo Sotelo, but Dotor will have to fight to show himself under Rafael Benitez.
