Liverpool transfer exclusive: Jurgen Klopp seeks £70M star to replace Saudi targets

This summer, Liverpool has already signed Alexis MacAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai, with more players anticipated to arrive.

After finishing fifth in the Premier League last season, Jurgen Klopp’s squad is eager to return to the Champions League as quickly as possible. They are the favorites to win the Europa League next season, a competition in which West Ham and Brighton have already qualified.

Liverpool has had a lot of success since Klopp took over as manager in October 2015. Except for the Europa League, they’ve won every trophy they’ve participated for. Just months after Klopp’s arrival, the Reds were defeated 3-1 by Sevilla in the Europa League final in 2016.

Marco Verratti is desired by Liverpool

According to The Guardian, Liverpool are interested in signing PSG midfielder Marco Verratti. The Reds are said to be interested in signing the 30-year-old Italian international if Jordan Henderson and Fabinho depart Merseyside for Saudi Arabia.

Al-Ettifaq has agreed a £12 million fee with Liverpool for Henderson, 33, with a weekly wage of £700,000 on the table, while Saudi Pro League champions Al-Ittihad want to recruit Fabinho, 29, for £40 million. Both transfers are in jeopardy.

Verratti is regarded as one of Europe’s most recognized midfielders, having played over 500 first-team games and earned 32 trophies, including nine Ligue 1 titles and Euro 2020. PSG, on the other hand, will only sell him if the price is right. They are thought to demand £70 million.

Deal on a loan for a child

Dominic Corness, a Liverpool midfielder, has signed a one-year loan agreement with Swiss club Yverdon Sport. The 20-year-old has yet to make his first-team debut for the Reds, but he has played five professional games in the EFL Trophy against League One and League Two clubs.

Corness will get the opportunity to play in the top division after Yverdon was promoted to the Swiss Super League in May after winning the second tier. Djibril Cisse, a Liverpool legend, spent a season with Yverdon near the end of his career, scoring 23 goals in 29 games.
