According to reports, Liverpool has made an offer for a player who might replace Roberto Firmino and provide much-needed backup for Mohamed Salah.
Roberto Firmino’s exit from Liverpool has been confirmed for the end of the season, marking the second departure of a Jürgen Klopp star in a year, following Sadio Mané’s departure last summer.
Even though Firmino’s exit is highly sentimental, it is unquestionably the right move. Both the player and the club benefit. Liverpool is at a crucial time for the club’s long-term future.
Having evidently reached a plateau and holding one of the oldest rosters in the Premier League, Klopp requires a squad overhaul. He has assembled an all-conquering team. Now, though, he must begin from scratch, and while he can save portions of the old house’s foundations, he cannot keep everything.
Yet, does Liverpool require a direct Firmino replacement? This query is irrelevant. Similar to previous season when Luis Diaz replaced Mané during the January transfer window, it appears like Liverpool has already replaced Firmino with Cody Gakpo.
But, this does not negate the necessity for Liverpool to make an additional signing. There will continue to be a gap in the attack. It may be a less-than-identical replacement. Similar to how Darwin Nez joined last summer to provide Klopp with a new type of offensive daпger.
This time around, Liverpool must concentrate on the right wing. Mohamed Salah is still going strong, but with his 31st birthday approaching this summer, he will not be around forever, especially if he is expected to play on the right wing. This kind of pressure may be taxing on a player, as Liverpool does not currently have a suitable replacement for him. Consider Fabinho’s decrease this season as an illustration.
So, the ideal offensive recruit for Liverpool would be someone who could relieve Salah of some of his responsibilities while also providing depth in other areas of attack. Essentially, he would be a hybrid option, and it appears that is precisely what Liverpool is seeking at the moment.
Liverpool, according to transfer analyst Ekrem Konur, is preparing a $49.6m (£40m/€45.5m) deal for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Danish forward Jesper Lindstrm, age 23.
The lively offensive player, who has primarily occupied the attacking midfield position for Frankfurt this season, is also capable of playing on the right wing and has done so on multiple occasions while contributing 13 goals to his team.
Fast and extremely direct, Lindstrm has played as a central midfielder, a holding midfielder, a center forward, and a left winger over the course of his career. He has served in a total of nine different capacities. This certainly sounds like the type of player Klopp would be interested in.
The Liverpool manager enjoys working with flexible players and developing them to his taste, which makes Lindstrm an excellent fit, especially given that he can also play in midfield, which would help Klopp tackle another problem area.
Yet his versatility alone would not make him an attractive possibility at Anfield. Lindstrm has previously praised Liverpool and confessed to be a lifelong fan of the Reds, even stating that it would be “great” for him to join the club in the future.
Lindstrm earlier stated on the TV 2 program ‘Frstevaelger’, as reported by the ECHO, “I’ve always maintained that I’m a Liverpool fan, therefore it would be really fantastic to play for Liverpool at some point.”
If ever there was a player who was a better fit for Liverpool, it would be him. Lindstrm is a player to keep a close eye on, Liverpool offer or not.
