‘Liverpool on red alert’ – Klopp now urging FSG to sign transfer-list German superstar, Thiago could help

According to the German outlet Kicker (via Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are on high alert because Bayern Munich are open to trading midfielder Joshua Kimmich this summer.

According to the article, Kimmich and Leon Goretzka are no longer ‘untouchables’ in the Bayern Munich squad. The club’s hierarchy would be willing to sell them.

The former had previously been linked with a move to Manchester City. A reunion with former Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola was planned. However, this has not yet occurred.

Kimmich’s current Allianz Arena contract expires in the summer of 2025 (Transfermarkt). The German international began his career as a right-back but is now a full-time defensive midfielder.

Liverpool are looking for a player of that caliber since Fabinho is poised to join Al-Ittihad and Jordan Henderson is set to join Al-Ettifaq.

For some time now, the Reds have been linked with a transfer for promising Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia. Even if they obtain the Belgian, there will be a need for another due to the dual departure.

Kimmich, 28, possesses the talent, experience, and versatility to play in a variety of midfield positions. Of course, he can also function as a number six.

It will be fascinating to see if Jurgen Klopp sees this as a chance to sign the Bayern midfielder. It is unusual for the German champions to be willing to let one of their prized assets leave during his prime years.

At the age of 28, Kimmich can easily play for another four or five years at his best. The player’s profile fits the way Liverpool plays under Klopp. The club should make every effort to sign the German international this summer.
