Dominik Szoboszlai is now expected to be ruled out of Liverpool’s behind-closed-doors friendly with Greuther Furth.
According to Ian Doyle of the Liverpool Echo, the Hungarian midfielder rolled his ankle and will miss the rest of the club’s training camp as a precaution.
It’s unclear how long the 22-year-old will be sidelined, but it appears doubtful that the player’s pre-season would be cut short after the aforementioned tie.
There’s no doubt that Jurgen Klopp will breathe a sigh of relief if his new star signing avoids a severe injury setback.
Still, one can only hope that Liverpool’s injury woes will improve in the coming season and that the £120,000-a-week midfielder (according to Capology) can avoid any lengthy absences.
If the 2022/23 season taught us anything, it’s that we can’t afford to compromise on fresh legs and dynamism in the midfield if we want to reclaim our most lethal form on the pitch.
Klopp has already stated that he wants his team to return to their beginnings as a fearsome counter-pressing and high-pressing force.
If we’re to turn that fantasy into a terrifying reality for our opponents, they’ll need dynamos like Szoboszlai running the show in the middle of the park.
