Jurgen Klopp has urged Liverpool fans to ‘trust’ the team as the team prepares for the 2023-24 season. The Reds had a fantastic 2021-22 season.
We were fighting on all fronts until the penultimate month of the season and came close to winning the quadruple. We could only compete in two domestic cup events that season.
However, fans hoped that the club would improve in the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League the next season. That did not occur.
We didn’t follow in the footsteps of Chelsea, who finished 12th in the standings, and did well to finish fifth after a good conclusion to the season. However, a top-four finish was seen as the bare minimum.
Liverpool is aiming for glory
Not to mention that we performed abysmally in all cup events. Klopp has stated that the team accepts responsibility for what happened and has asked fans to put their trust in the squad to make things right next season.
He told the club’s press:
“Of course, the previous years, almost winning the quadruple but not actually doing it, and then having the season we had, that can create some doubt, I know.” Then people want to change – they want to change the team on 12 positions one day and only one the next.
“And then we change, and it’s the wrong player, ‘No, no, not him,’ and so on.” What I’d like to request is that you trust us. We feel deeply responsible for what is happening here, and we will go to any length to ensure that this season is one we will never forget. That is the strategy.”
Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur are all significantly strengthening their squads. We have once again fallen behind in the transfer market.
Alexis MacAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai are insufficient. If Jordan Henderson and Fabinho Tavares leave, we’ll need at least two more great midfielders. We should also look for a new center-back.
Klopp is a fantastic coach with a fantastic team at his disposal. But our owners must ensure that he is properly supported and has all of the resources he needs to create his magic, just as Pep Guardiola does at Manchester City — the team with whom we competed directly during the Klopp-Pep era in England.
