Many teams attempting to participate in potential The Miami Heat and Damian Lillard trade is ‘1 way or another’

The rumors regarding Damian Lillard’s trade have not subsided, according to a recent report that claims several NBA teams are still trying to get involved in the prospective mega-deal.

According to that line of reasoning, a team might transfer resources to the Trail Blazers in order to potentially trade for Tyler Herro in a multi-team transaction. The Trail Blazers are not interested in Herro in any Lillard trade package, Fentress did say.

Lillard informed the Trail Blazers of his desire to be traded on July 1. However, the Trail Blazers are not in a hurry to deal him.

The Trail Blazers are being patient since Lillard has a long-term commitment with the organization. All of the emphasis is on the Heat to wait for an asset-rich trade package that is in their best interests.

Herro’s name has come up frequently in discussions about Lillard since the Heat are allegedly utilizing him as their main trade piece. But given the Trail Blazers’ apparent lack of interest in Herro, a third team will probably need to be involved in order to close the transaction.

It’s unclear which clubs are involved in this scenario specifically. Given how adamant Lillard has already been about wanting to play for them, the Heat are probably not too concerned about which clubs they might end up on.

Wherever Herro ends up will probably not be a big deal for the franchise if Herro does turn out to be the primary asset the Heat use to obtain Lillard. Herro has improved over the course of his four years to become a useful player on the court, but Lillard has superior career numbers and has the ability to make or break any Heat title push.

The Trail Blazers are reportedly okay with prolonging the process to ensure they receive high-quality assets in exchange. The longer such trade negotiations go on, the more likely it appears that a different team will eventually be included in the transaction.
