‘Definitely’ – Liverpool now reported focused on signing ‘phenomenal’ £50m player

Liverpool are allegedly keen on signing Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia, with the Reds presently in talks.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, the Merseyside giants have zeroed in on the Belgian international as their perfect replacement for Fabinho, who is set to officially leave to Saudi Arabia next week.

For the bulk of the summer, Lavia has been connected with a move to Liverpool, and the coming days might be vital in the midfielder eventually clinching his move away from Southampton and back to the Premier League.

Lavia, who is worth £50 million, dominated the Premier League with Southampton last season. And Liverpool is now interested in bringing in the former Manchester City prospect.

Indeed, given Southampton’s asking price, securing Lavia will be a difficult task. Nonetheless, Liverpool are determined to bring the 19-year-old to Anfield this window as a replacement for the Al-Ittihad-bound Fabinho.

“I think Liverpool are more focused on Romeo Lavia at the moment,” Jacobs said of the Reds’ interest in Lavia. “It’ll be interesting to see if we get any movement on that front.”

Liverpool must act quickly to sign Lavia

Liverpool’s chase of Lavia appears to be reaching a new peak next week, and the Reds must act quickly if they are to sign the midfielder in the coming days.

Lavia, hailed as a ‘phenomenal’ prospect by Total Football Analysis, would be a perfect long-term replacement for Fabinho based on his debut year in the Premier League and his scary potential.

With other teams keen, Liverpool are racing against the clock to complete a deal with Southampton for Lavia, a player who might start for Jurgen Klopp’s side for years to come.
