‘I didn’t speak to him much’ – Fabio Carvalho speaks up on ‘fractured’ relationship with Klopp

Fabio Carvalho has admitted that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp did not advise him prior to his loan move to RB Leipzig.

Carvalho is eager to create an impression during his time at the German club and believes it is best for him to discover things for himself.

According to The Athletic, Carvalho stated, ‘I don’t really talk to him, therefore he didn’t give me any advise.

‘I have to learn as I go, which I don’t believe is a terrible thing. ‘I think it’s better for me to evolve as a person and as a player that way.’

Dominik Szoboszlai joined Liverpool shortly after Carvalho left for RB Leipzig at the end of June.

Carvalho, who joined Liverpool from Fulham last year, made 21 appearances and scored three goals in his first season.

Carvalho made a memorable late winner against Newcastle at Anfield.

The Portugal Under-21 international is a talented midfielder who can also play out wide, and his versatility might be important for Leipzig this season.

Along with Carvalho, Leipzig has added Lois Openda, Benjamin Sesko, Christoph Baumgartner, Nicolas Seiwald, and El Chadille Bitshiabu this summer, as well as Xavi Simons on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.

Carvalho made four appearances in the Champions League last season and the 20-year-old is likely to compete in the league again this season with Leipzig.
