Jürgen Klopp provides ‘good news’ about Dominik Szoboszlai fitness

Liverpool were missing one of their key midfielders when they played Greuther Fürth in a friendly on Monday. Manager Jürgen Klopp confirmed just before kickoff that the squad will be missing the stunning new addition Dominik Szoboszlai.

Fortunately, it appears to be a minor knock that will not keep Szoboszlai out for long. Klopp claimed it was a little rolled ankle that the Hungarian midfielder could have played through if the game was more important than fitness.

“He rolled his ankle slightly in practice, nothing serious.” Everyone is overjoyed, especially himself.”

“If we had a Premier League game today or something, he could play.” So we don’t take a chance, and we’ll see what we do with the Leicester game after travel and all. But he will undoubtedly be ready for the Bayern game.”

If Klopp’s timeframe is correct (and we all know he never underestimates the severity of a knock), Szoboszlai should be back in training in a matter of weeks, if not sooner. Liverpool will play Leicester City in Asia on Sunday before facing Bayern Munich the following Wednesday. Those games are part of the prestigious Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy tournament.

Before Szoboszlai’s injury, Liverpool was already short on midfielders. Stefan Bajcetic has only recently returned to training after a lengthy injury layoff, while Thiago is currently recovering from surgery. Meanwhile, wantaway midfielders Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have returned to the United Kingdom to await the completion of negotiations with Saudi Arabian teams.
