One championship at a time, Nikola Jokic is enjoying the finest version of himself. A recent horse racing victory in his native Serbia was honored by the freshly crowned NBA champion and Finals MVP.
Next season, Nikola Jokic’s total number of victories could increase. The early favorite to win the NBA MVP award this season is “The Joker”. He would be taking home the league’s top individual award for the third time.
Jokic came close to winning three consecutive MVP awards last season, but Kendrick Perkins’ contentious assessment of Joel Embiid’s chances may have swung the vote in the latter’s direction.
It’s debatable whether Perkins’ remarks had an impact on the MVP race given that Jokic came close to recording a triple-double but Embiid took home the scoring crown.
It’s unusual to see Jokic dancing to Serbian music while holding a large trophy in celebration.
In his Serbian hometown of Sombor, Jokic has a herd of horses. On a harness, these horses compete in races. That is essentially the focus of “The Joker’s” offseason. Every year, he both rides and watches these horses compete in various events.
After winning his first NBA title last month, the two-time MVP also discussed it, stating he would rather return home to his horses than take part in the celebratory parade. Three days following the parade, his horses were supposed to compete in a race.

Few people seem to be as committed to doing the things they love as you are. While maintaining his fascination with basketball and his horses, Jokic appears to live a simple life. He demonstrated this by saying that after winning a chip, the first thing on his mind was returning home to see his horses run.
