According to the Moroccan press, Sofyan Amrabat is set to join MU and become the club’s third signing this summer.
Moroccan journalist Izem Anass reported that Man United had reached an agreement with Fiorentina for the transfer of Amrabat. Even the player’s medical examination schedule has been planned.
Amrabat has a contract until June 2024 with Fiorentina after joining from Club Brugge in 2020. He began to be interested by the big boys after a brilliant performance at the 2022 World Cup for Morocco.
Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are the two most contacted teams. But it seems that Man United is the winner, having reached a personal agreement with this player from last week. The final hurdle is the transfer price with Fiorentina which has also been pegged at €30m (£26m).
Amrabat began his professional career in the Netherlands with Utrecht, before joining Feyenoord. He then moved to Club Brugge before signing with Fiorentina.
Amrabat has made 107 appearances for Fiorentina since joining in 2020. The 26-year-old’s contract expires at the end of next season. That’s why Fiorentina was forced to sell Amrabat to avoid losing this player next summer.
Amrabat is expected to complete the transfer procedures to Man United in the next few days. Currently, the “Red Devils” are preparing for the new season with a tour in the US.
In midfield, Man United has recruited a rookie in this summer’s transfer window, Mason Mount. In addition, the Manchester team also welcomed goalkeeper Andre Onana for a transfer fee of up to €55m.
