‘Agreement’: £25m Liverpool target now close to Saudi Arabia move – Romano

Al-Hilal are reportedly closing in on PSG midfielder Marco Verratti, leaving Liverpool out of the running.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Saudi Arabian heavyweights are close to reaching an agreement with both the player and the club, with PSG willing to transfer Verratti this summer for as little as €30 million (£25 million).

According to Marca, Liverpool and Atletico Madrid are both interested in signing Verratti. However, the midfield master is now set to join the Saudi Pro League’s growing list of European players.

With Liverpool already losing Jordan Henderson to Al-Ittifaq and Fabinho on the way, Saudi Arabia is interfering in the Reds’ transfer plans once more, with Verratti apparently likely to join Al-Hilal.

Indeed, many will be surprised by the sale given how talented Verratti still is and how well the midfielder would suit a lot of elite European clubs, with Liverpool only one of those interested in the PSG star.

Liverpool will be perplexed by Verratti’s transfer to Al-Hilal

Saudi Arabia’s influence in football appears to be expanding by the second, and Verratti’s prospective move to Al-Hilal might be one of the most significant the Middle Eastern country pulls off, leaving Liverpool perplexed.

While salaries are sure to be a factor in Verratti’s decision, there’s no disputing that the midfielder would be a valuable addition to many UEFA Champions League teams, with Liverpool in particular in need of a player of his caliber.

However, with Al-Hilal already working their magic with PSG, Verratti appears to be on his way to Saudi Arabia, leaving Liverpool helpless to intervene in this latest blockbuster transfer.
