Jamal Murray spent two years living in a hotel called “Schitt’s Creek” before moving into a condo in Denver.

Jamal Murray’s humble Denver home is as unassuming as the star of the Denver Nuggets.

Murray resides in a $870,000 home in the city’s Jefferson Park district after signing a five-year, $170 million contract in 2019.

The four-level home, which is only one mile from Ball Arena, offers three bedrooms, a small dining area, and a rooftop terrace with breathtaking views of the city and mountains.

Compared to many of the mega-mansions owned by other NBA stars, it is a far cry.

But the residence fits the understated Murray, who is from a small Canadian town, is frequently overshadowed by Nuggets center Nikola Jokic and has never been named an NBA All-Star.

He does, in fact, frequently show up in post-match interviews wearing nothing but a white T-shirt and loose gray sweatpants.

The Schitt’s Creek Rosebud Motel, where he lived for two years as a budding basketball player in Canada, is a huge improvement over the townhouse.

In the Netflix original comedy Schitt’s Creek, which stars Eugene Levy and his son Daniel Levy, the once-wealthy Rose family is forced to live in a run-down hotel in a town they previously acquired as a joke.

Jesse Tipping, the head of the Athlete Institute Basketball Academy and Orangeville Prep, has put the real-life Rosebud Motel up for sale.

In order to lodge recruits for what has become to be the most successful prep school basketball team in Canada, Tipping bought the motel in 2011.

Murray and Miami Heat training camp invitee Kyle Alexander both resided there for two years prior to enrolling at Kentucky University.

“When [Murray] and his family chose Orangeville, it was a significant event for us since he already had a strong local reputation as a major talent. Just so motivated,” Tipping told Toronto Life about her husband.

“I recall watching him practicing step-back three-pointers one day in the gym. however, from about half-court. Just an absurd shot.

“He must have attempted it 50 times, and I questioned why he was rehearsing it so diligently. How soon are you planning to attempt this shot?

Naturally, we attended a tournament the next weekend, and he made the same shot to win a match. Oh my God, this kid is special, I just thought.

When Murray won his first NBA championship earlier this week, he was filled with emotion after missing the whole 2021–22 season due to an ACL tear.

It was challenging to speak, Murray said ESPN. Being sidelined for two postseasons, man, that was everything. I was surrounded by so much affection from everyone. It’s fantastic to see it come full circle.

“This is the first, but there will be many more. We had faith in our abilities.

“It’s basically simply cracking that cherry and locking everybody in. We’ve established that. I believe we can try it again and make a second attempt.”
