PSG are in talks with MU’s top target, striker Rasmus Hojlund. They are ready to meet Atalanta’s £86m valuation in an attempt to find a replacement for Kylian Mbappe.
Man United are in dire need of a new No. 9 and have identified Hojlund as their top target to strengthen their attack. However, Atalanta’s £86m bid has slowed negotiations.
Difficulties increase for the Red Devils when PSG has just joined the race. The Ligue 1 champion with a bottomless pocket is ready to meet Atalanta’s request. Additionally, according to RMC Sport journalist Sacha Tavolieri, PSG have offered Hugo Ekitike as part of a swap plus cash deal for Hojlund.
Atalanta is said to be a huge fan of Ekitike and is planning to make an offer for him if Hojlund leaves Gewiss Stadium this summer.
This latest development leaves the Red Devils in trouble for the first time since they agreed personal terms with the Dane earlier this month.
Man United once offered cash plus one of two players Fred or Mason Greenwood but Atalanta quickly declined. Now the Red Devils will be forced to pay cash or withdraw when PSG jump in.
The Paris team needs to find a new striker in the context of Mbappe’s future being uncertain . Mbappe’s contract expires at the end of next season and PSG are keen to sell him this summer to make money if the French striker has no intention of extending his contract.
Club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi made PSG’s position clear during the unveiling of coach Luis Enrique. “We want Mbappe to stay, but we won’t let him go for free.”
