Liverpool will reportedly miss out ‘huge bonus’ because of Sadio Mane

According to reports, Liverpool will lose £7.5 million in bonuses if Sadio Mane joins Al Nassr from Bayern Munich.

The 31-year-old is said to be closing in on a contract to join the Saudi Pro League club and play with Cristiano Ronaldo in the Gulf country.

Mane only moved from Anfield to the Allianz Arena last summer in a £35 million transfer.

Despite winning the German top division, he failed to live up to his lofty expectations in Bavaria, scoring just seven Bundesliga goals.

And Bayern Munich are now likely to sell him for roughly £30 million, which will be a blow to Jurgen Klopp’s team.

According to the Daily Mail, Bayern only paid Liverpool a £27.5 million upfront price.

The remaining £7.5m was to be paid provided the Senegal international met certain performance-based add-on requirements.

Those expectations will not be satisfied, as Mane will leave Germany before the end of his three-year contract.

His Bayern Munich teammate Joshua Kimmich believes Mane, who was suspended in April for hitting Leroy Sane, has been unfairly singled out throughout Bayern’s disappointing season.

“He played a very good first half of the season last season and had good stats,” he told BILD.

“It wasn’t entirely his fault that things weren’t going well for us. The broad picture wasn’t looking good for us.

“You are a new player in another country, with a different language, culture, and people.

“When you join as a top star and have to listen to a lot of criticism – some rightly, some wrongly – I can imagine it’s not easy.”
