EXCL: Liverpool in surprise talks to sign striker on loan from PSG, Klopp is ‘the key’

According to reports, Liverpool are in talks to recruit Kylian Mbappe on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.

According to the Mirror, Liverpool and PSG are in talks over a loan deal for the wantaway player. The proposed arrangement would be a one-year loan for which Liverpool would pay a fee.

After refusing to sign a new contract, PSG is keen to offload Mbappe this summer. After PSG accepted a world record £259 million ($332 million) offer, the 24-year-old Frenchman rejected down a move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal.

Mbappe’s current deal with PSG will end next summer, and the club believes he has decided to join Real Madrid as a free agent in 2024. A loan arrangement with Liverpool may be the only way to get Mbappe out of Paris while still recouping some money.

Mbappe is a known supporter of Liverpool and manager Jurgen Klopp, and the opportunity to play in the Premier League before probably joining Real Madrid in 2024 would undoubtedly appeal to him. It remains to be seen whether Liverpool can pull off the financials required.
