The younger son of Los Angeles Lakers All-Star small forward LeBron James, Bryce James, has gradually emerged as a name to watch in the AAU ranks. Everywhere he goes, his athleticism seems to be unrivaled, and he appears to be teasing other players in his AAU league for fun.
Come on, that first clip is HORRIBLE. The defence appeared to be in need of a map thanks to him.
He also makes a few dunks that appear to be practiced attempts before tearing up the NBA. But keep in mind.
AND HE’S JUST 16!
People are already comparing him to his brother and suggesting that he might even be better than Bronny before he even enrolls in college.
I’m not here to do that, though. We’ve seen the plays that Bryce is capable of, but he needs to maintain that level of performance throughout his time in high school and even into college.
There are quite a few well-known high school players with NIL contracts, including recent graduates Arch Manning and Jada Williams, a renowned basketball player. Therefore, it is quite amazing that Bryce has a NIL deal as he begins his junior year.
Of course, it helps to have one of the greatest basketball players in history as your father.
But in the end, it all comes down to this. Can Bryce James maintain his health, his consistency, and his ability to compete at the high school level?
After viewing that clip, my initial reactions were “absolutely” and “yeah, he’s going to dominate the next level.” However, it is his performance against other high school talent, not the numbers he posts at the AAU level, that counts.
I’m particularly interested to see how he would do on one of California’s largest platforms, especially in light of the recent reports that he has looked into transfer colleges.
