It’s difficult to compare the eras LeBron James and Michael Jordan played in, Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry told Today’s Willie Geist.
The two best NBA players in history are widely regarded as being Michael Jordan and LeBron James.
Curry stated, “I subscribe to the notion that there are several GOATs. “And I detest that; it’s not a lame response, but comparing eras is so difficult. It’s also unfair to say things like, “Oh if you put Michael in this era or if you put LeBron in that era.” It’s a fantastic barbershop argument that won’t finish until the end of time.
Together, LeBron and Jordan have won nine regular-season MVP awards, ten championships, and ten MVP awards in the finals. With the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s, Jordan won six titles, six MVP awards from the NBA Finals, and five regular-season MVP awards. He twice completed a three-peat and went 6-0 in the Finals. LeBron, on the other hand, has won four championships and been named MVP of the Finals and the regular season four times.
Throughout his illustrious career with the Bulls and Washington Wizards, Jordan averaged 30.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game. With the Bulls, he earned three All-Star Game MVP awards, three steals titles, and ten scoring crowns. Three players, including Jordan, have won MVP and Defensive Player of the Year in the same year. The other two are Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks and Hakeem Olajuwon of the Houston Rockets.
Jordan is third in steals, first in points per game, fifth overall in scoring, and first in player efficiency rating in NBA history. He currently retains the 63-point playoff game scoring record.
The only player in NBA history to finish in the top 10 in both points and assists is LeBron. With the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, and Los Angeles Lakers, The King has averaged 27.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 7.3 assists throughout the course of his career. Only LeBron has won three Finals MVP awards with three different clubs in NBA history.
LeBron, a 19-time All-Star, is the NBA’s all-time leader in points, assists, steals, triple-doubles, player efficiency rating, points per game, and win shares. He also ranks fourth in assists, ninth in steals, and fourth in triple-doubles. Having at least 30,000 points, 10,000 rebounds, and 10,000 assists makes him the only player in history.
Curry is seen as a contender for the GOAT by many Warriors supporters. Curry averages 24.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 6.5 assists over the course of his career. In NBA history, he has made the most three-pointers. Curry, 35, has won four rings, two MVP awards for the regular season, one for the finals, and two for scoring.
