Sunderland FC’s official website has confirmed that they have successfully signed a contract with Man Utd goalkeeper Nathan Bishop. The English star will sign a three-year contract at the Stadium of Light.
Bishop joined the Red Devils’ youth team in 2020 but has yet to make his debut in the Premier League. He was given the opportunity during the pre-season but his performances were not impressive.
In the recent match against Wrexham, Bishop’s attempt to block the ball caused striker Paul Mullin to suffer a punctured lung, and he received a lot of criticism from the opposing coach. With Man Utd already adding Andre Onana to their squad and planning to sign at least one more backup option, the 1999-born player no longer has a chance to play.
At 23 years old, Bishop still has a lot of time to develop himself. Sunderland is a reasonable choice for him at this time, as the Black Cats can ensure him regular playing time as their first-choice goalkeeper.
