TOM BRADY maintains his peak performance and exceptional fitness with a disciplined lifestyle and diet.
The 43-year-old quarterback will make his 10th Super Bowl appearance on Sunday night, his first with his new team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
And, like fellow athletic greats Cristiano Ronaldo and LeBron James, taking care of his physique is critical to staying at the top of his game.
His unusual diet includes 25 glasses of water each day loaded with electrolytes, as well as his distinctive avocado ice cream.
Brady’s nutrition strategy was revealed in his 2017 book The TB12 Method.
“The regimen I follow is a mix of Eastern and Western philosophies,” he added. Some of these principles date back thousands of years.
“My nutritional regimen may appear restrictive to some, but eating any other way feels unnatural to me.”
“Many people have conditioned their bodies to a nutritional regiment consisting of a lot of white or pale-looking foods that don’t exist in nature—french fries, potato chips, white bread, chicken nuggets.”
The six-time Super Bowl champion follows an 80-20 diet, which consists of 80 percent plant-based foods and 20 percent animal-based foods.
In layman’s words, this indicates that 80 percent of his plate is made up of veggies, with the remaining 20 percent made up of a nutritious meat or protein.
When he wakes up at 6 a.m., the first thing he does is reach for a 20oz glass of electrolyte-infused water.
Breakfast is usually a smoothie with berries, banana, nuts, and seeds, and he has a protein shake in the middle of the morning after his workout.
Brady ensures that his plate is 80 percent loaded with vegetables at lunch and dinner.
During the day, he consumes two or three more protein smoothies and nibbles on nuts and seeds while being extremely hydrated.
For added nutrients, vitamins, and minerals, the QB legend may sip a boiling hot cup of bone broth.
But what Brady doesn’t consume is much more crucial, and the list is lengthy.
He avoids, among other things, alcohol, white bread and pasta, cereals, dairy, trans fats, sugar, and artificial sweeteners.
Brady’s regimented lifestyle demonstrates his dedication and love for the game.
He stated that retiring from football will be a difficult decision.
“I think it’s going to be difficult to walk away whenever I decide to walk away because it’s been a huge part of my life for a long time,” Brady said.
“I enjoy thinking about it.” Football is much more than a sport to me. There is the physical component, the mental approach, and the emotional component.
“I believe that for an older athlete like myself, a large part of the enjoyment comes from helping others.” That’s most likely why I’m still doing it. It’s not about me, Tom Brady; it’s about the Buccaneers and what we can do. So far, this year has been fantastic.”
Brady returns to the Super Bowl for the 10th time in 21 seasons in his first year with the Buccaneers.
In the off-season, his perfect marriage with the Patriots and coach Bill Belichick ended mutually, and he packed his bags and moved south to Florida.
