When asked if he will be available to represent Canada at the next FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, Jamal Murray responded that his body and pace are a little different from those of other players.
The Denver Nuggets star provided a brief update following recent reports about Jamal Murray’s participation in the forthcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 being doubtful.
Although Murray did not directly respond, he acknowledged that he is not yet fully prepared.
To quote Murray, “It’s a process,” TSN’s Josh Lewenberg reported. “My body and my pace are a little different from everyone else’s, so right now all I’m trying to do is maintain my composure and stick to my jump shot. I can always rely on it.
Rowan Barrett, general manager of Canada Basketball, disclosed on Wednesday that the medical staff will have to make a determination regarding Murray’s availability.
Although managing him will be challenging, we will ultimately choose what is best for him. He obviously wants to play and is here because we want him to be.
During the Pan American Games in 2015, Murray made one appearance for Canada.
From August 25 to September 10, the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia will co-host the Basketball World Cup, which will be held for the first time in those three countries.
Canada will compete in Group H of the FIBA Basketball World Cup against France, Lebanon, and Latvia.
Canada will compete against groups from Group G, which includes Iran, Spain, and the Ivory Coast, if it gets to the Second Round.
Murray made 65 regular season appearances for the Nuggets during the title-winning season of the previous year, averaging 20.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per contest.
