Prior to Game 1 of the NBA Finals, Michael Malone had a special visit.
Nobody anticipated the Denver Nuggets would end the NBA season in 2022–2023 as champions. No one besides the Denver Nuggets’ ownership group. There were many memorable moments this year, but Nuggets head coach Michael Malone truly treasured one in particular.
Michael Malone spoke about his best championship memories while a guest on Zach Lowe’s show, The Lowe Post. Malone said that Nuggets owners Stan and Josh Kroenke paid the squad a visit before Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
Malone remarked, “The Kroenke family, you know, their teams win championships. “The Rams had just claimed a title. It was finally our turn to attempt to win a championship after the Avalanche had already done so. They also love basketball a lot. I was incredibly lucky to be working for and with a fantastic ownership group that had the insight to come down and simply wish me good luck when I realized how emotional and how much it meant to Stan Kroenke — in a positive manner, as he loves all his teams.
The Denver Nuggets organization had numerous opportunities to give up on Michael Malone. Fans appeared to have given up on Malone after the team trailed the LA Clippers 3-1 in a playoff game. Instead, they made a remarkable comeback against LA and continued to display their tenacity for years to come, right up until it was time to claim a championship.
