‘This is big big club!’ – Sadio Mane completes stunning transfer to Al-Nassr after flop season at Germany

Sadio Mane’s stunning transfer to Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia has been completed, but it will cost Liverpool millions of pounds in the process. The German champions, Bayern Munich, paid Liverpool an upfront fee of £27.5m for the forward, with an additional £7.5m to be paid based on certain performance-based add-ons. However, those add-ons will not be met as Mane joins Al-Nassr and is set to earn around £650,000 per week.

Mane’s move to Bayern Munich last summer for £35m did not yield the expected results, with the forward only managing seven Bundesliga goals in the previous season. As Bayern focuses on adding more firepower to their squad, with Tottenham’s Harry Kane being a top target, Mane became surplus to requirements, making his transfer to Al-Nassr a feasible funding option for the Kane deal.

On the same day as Mane’s transfer, Bayern Munich also launched a club record bid of £82m for England’s captain, Harry Kane. The bid includes an initial payment of £73m, with an additional £9m in potential add-ons. Despite being a record fee for Bayern, it falls short of Spurs’ £100m valuation for Kane.
