‘At least TWO’ – Romano drops transfer hint that please LFC fans, says Klopp’s wisdom

This summer, Fabrizio Romano may have alleviated fan concerns by saying that Liverpool will sign ‘at least two’ new players.

That number could rise to three, though it is unclear whether the club will be able to discover suitable replacements for vacancies in the team.

“In the final few weeks of the window, I expect Liverpool to sign at least one player, possibly two, and possibly three if a good opportunity presents itself,” the Italian told the Born and Red YouTube channel.

“They’re working hard on it.” They communicate on a daily basis. Because this is how Liverpool works, they go player by player and negotiation after negotiation.

“However, I believe they will be extremely busy in the final weeks.”

The Merseysiders are said to be interested in Southampton’s Romeo Lavia, but there is still a stalemate over the player’s worth, with the Saints refusing to budge on their £50 million asking price.

Our business just cannot finish there, considering that the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho practically balanced out the additions of Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister.

That’s not to say that both departures couldn’t be blessings in disguise, partly because of the nature of the latter’s cost, but also because of the midfield department’s concerning age profile last season.

With Liverpool now having one of the thinnest squads in the English Premier League, it’s difficult to imagine Jurgen Klopp and co. feeling confident about competing for a place in the top-four (let alone on all fronts) in the 2023/24 season without significant additional investment.
