Ryan Gravenberch, a midfielder for Bayern Munich, has shown an interest in joining Liverpool this summer.
Fabrizio Romano, of the Born and Red YouTube channel, claims this.
Liverpool have made no secret of their desire to strengthen their midfield options this summer.
Alexis MacAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai are both set to play significant roles at Anfield next season.
Six senior midfielders, including Fabinho and club captain Jordan Henderson, have left Liverpool since the end of last season.
With only two signings so far, Jurgen Klopp will be aware that he requires at least one more before the transfer market shuts.
The club’s priority target appears to be Romeo Lavia, but other options are being evaluated.
Ryan Gravenberch is another Liverpool target who is open to moving in the coming weeks.
Bayern Munich, on the other hand, may not be as eager to complete a transfer as the Dutch international.
Gravenberch is eager to join Liverpool
When asked about the £17 million midfielder, Romano stated, “They absolutely love [Ryan] Gravenberch.” It’s all about the director [Jorg Schmadtke] and Jurgen Klopp.
“They really, really like the player, and the player is willing to make a move.”
“As a result, Ryan Gravenberch wishes to speak with Bayern once more in order to clarify his position.”
“What I can say is that Bayern are still in the same position as they were in June, July, and now August.”
“They don’t want to sell the player because they believe Ryan Gravenberch will be a top star at the position in the future.”
“When Bayern says no, it’s not an easy conversation.” The only way to make it happen is on the side of the player.
“So, if a player goes there and says, ‘OK, sell me because I don’t want to stay here,’ that’s fine.”
“Right now, the player is concerned about his current situation because he wants to be a starter, an important player, and a regular starter.”
“But he didn’t go there and say, ‘Let me go,’ at the time.” It’s still in the early stages between Gravenberch and Bayern, and Liverpool can only wait for now.
“It makes no sense to submit proposals or begin negotiations if Bayern is unwilling to sell.”
Gravenberch’s willingness to join Liverpool will not be enough to secure a contract this summer.
Bayern Munich appears to be working hard on a deal for Harry Kane, but they don’t want outgoings to complicate their business this month.
Gravenberch would be the club’s latest youthful midfielder, but he is already a senior international.
Because he is not the number six that Liverpool sorely needs right now, the club will most likely only try to sign Gravenberch if another player arrives first.
It will be intriguing to watch if the club signs a new midfielder before their first Premier League game against Chelsea.
