Rᴜᴍᴏʀs about Mason Mount leaving Chelsea this summer have persisted since since the midfielder was benched against Liverpool on Tuesday.
Despite ʀᴜᴍᴏʀs regarding Mason Mount’s future, Chelsea interim head coach Bruno Saltor maintains he won’t hesitate to utilize him.
The 24-year-old has been extensively linked with a transfer away from Stamford Bridge this summer after contract negotiations were put on hold. He was an inactive substitute during their 0-0 draw with Liverpool on Tuesday night. With his current contract, Mount has just over a year left.
Because to a foot ɪɴᴊᴜʀʏ, Mount hasn’t played since Chelsea’s 2-0 loss to Spurs in February. Bruno said when asked why he wasn’t present: “He was available, but he’s recovering from an ɪɴᴊᴜʀʏ. Getting players back from injuries is never easy. He’s capable of playing multiple positions. He is a sᴜᴘᴇʀʙ athlete. I adore him.
He is a boss. He adores the club. You can see that he is a crucial member of our team. He will undoubtedly have minutes with everyone.
Despite Mount’s troubles with form and fitness at Chelsea this season, Potter spoke highly of him before he was fired on Sunday night. In 32 games this season, Mount has scored three goals.
“I think it’s been tough for him because he’s had some niggling injuries and ʀᴜᴍᴏʀs off the pitch,” Potter added. He is an excellent professional and a wonderful young man.
“How he’s acted with me, with the team, how he’s acted around us has been absolutely top. I think that’s credit to him because sometimes in your career things are difficult, not quite optimal how you’d like them to be and you have to act well and conduct yourself in a good way and that’s exactly what he’s done.”
The future of Mount has been uncertain due to a contract dispute for some time.
Several other Premier League clubs have also been connected, with Liverpool being one of the teams that have expressed interest.
In an effort to improve his underwhelming team, Jürgen Klopp may decide to add a lot of players to his roster this summer. A number of players, including three senior midfielders, have unfinished contracts, which might result in Mount joining the Reds at the end of the current campaign. Moreover, Klopp is a fan of Conor Gallagher, a teammate of Mount’s at Chelsea.
Jurgen Klopp sends warning to Arsenal despite Liverpool’s failure at Chelsea
After Tuesday’s draw with Chelsea, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have won only one of their previous eight away Premier League games, but their record at Anfield is much better.
Arsenal has been forewarned by Jurgen Klopp that his team is prepared to recover on Sunday following their abject showing against Chelsea.
Tuesday’s scoreless draw at Stamford Bridge was a blessing for Liverpool. Reece James’ goal was disallowed because Enzo Fernandez was just slightly offside, and Kai Havertz was fined for elbowing the ball over the goal line, resulting in Chelsea scoring twice.
In their last eight Premier League away games, Liverpool has only won once, but at Anfield, things are different. In Merseyside, the Reds had won three straight league games, including their illustrious 7-0 victory over Manchester United the last time out.
As such, Klopp is confident his misfiring players can deliver against leaders Arsenal on Sunday. The Gunners are eight points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League having played a game more, with seven consecutive wins in the bag.
“The next game is Arsenal,” noted Klopp after Tuesday’s stalemate. “I don’t know exactly where Arsenal were last year, but they are now obviously flying, in incredible shape, play sᴜᴘᴇʀ football, honestly, that is really good to watch.
“But we are there, it is a home game and our home record is not as bad as the away record. It means I am really looking forward to this game now because tonight I saw a step and that’s what I ᴡᴀɴᴛᴇᴅ. Now let’s carry on. Anfield is waiting for us and we want to deliver.
“We have another 10 games to play and the next one is Arsenal. Not the other nine, I am not interested in. But the next one is Arsenal, so if we are difficult to ʙᴇᴀᴛ against Arsenal we can win this game. If not, Arsenal will just go over us and then we will see.
“With one point, the steps, how I said, are not massive. If you win a football game, all of a sᴜᴅᴅᴇɴ three points for one game; wow, things can look different.
“But for the moment we have no lack of goals, or lack of where we want to end up; we want to be as successful as possible. But that means for each weekend, or for each midweek game, like today, we want to win it. I saw that tonight and for that, I am fine.”
The difficulty that awaits his team will be known to Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal. In their final Premier League match at Anfield in November 2021, Liverpool destroyed the Gunners 4-0, but in their final trip to Merseyside in February, Everton defeated them 1-0.
Arsenal also has a challenging final stretch because they still have games against Man City, Chelsea, and Newcastle still to play. Yet, Arteta’s side is not entirely in the dark. They are in excellent form and overcame Liverpool 3-2 in October at the Emirates.
Arteta pushed his team to have pleasure in the title race. After Saturday’s 4-1 victory over Leeds, he said, “Just enjoy the situation that we are in.”
