Out of patience with Dalot and WBS, Ten Hag target ‘Alphonso Davies 2.0’ to upgrade line-up

The Red Devils have long been fans of the Dutch international.

This summer, Manchester United has undertaken “extremely promising” conversations with Bayer Leverkusen full-back Jeremie Frimpong.

Last year, the Red Devils were widely linked with a move for Frimpong, with Sky Sports Deutschland reporting that a transfer was “becoming more and more clear.” Unfortunately, as we all know, the move did not take place, despite renewed гᴜмогs in recent months.

According to Football Insider, United, and Erik ten Hag are planning a deal to transfer the Dutch international to the Premier League, with Old Trafford scouts gushing about him. Frimpong has been impressive in the Bundesliga, providing 13 goals in 26 league appearances, and it seems that a first move has been made ahead of the summer.

In the previous 48 hours, Sky Sports correspondent Florian Plettenberg delivered an update on the Red Devils and Frimpong. He claimed that negotiations had taken place between people at Old Trafford and the player’s agent, Jeffrey Lemmert and that those talks were “quite promising.”

Plettenberg went on to ᵴɑү that “Ten Hag admires the player” and that Frimpong is “open” to leaving Leverkusen in the coming months.

Frimpong, dubbed a “special player” by his manager Xabi Alonso, has had his greatest season in terms of goal contributions and seems to be on the rise. His Transfermarkt value has risen from €10 million to €35 million during his stay at Leverkusen, where he has been the club’s second-best performance this season, behind only Florian Wirtz, according to WhoScored.

The 22-year-old has outperformed both Manchester United right-backs Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, as well as being Leverkusen’s most fouled player and most successful dribbler. Frimpong also has more assists than any other Leverkusen player and is tied with Bruno Fernandes in that category, so a transfer by United may be incredibly astute.

The Red Devils just signed Luke Shaw to a new long-term deal, so they look to have a long-term left-back option, but there appears to be a question mark at right-back. United seems to be open to offers for Wan-Bissaka in the coming months, so if he leaves, Frimpong may be brought in to replace him and compete with Dalot for a starting berth in Ten Hag’s second season, making this one to watch.

Ansu Fati has been linked to a prospective move

After scoring for Barcelona over the weekend, Ansu Fati гҽмɑᎥ𝚗s a transfer target following his father’s previous statements.

Amid the uncertainties surrounding Ansu Fati, journalist Fabrizio Romano has named Manchester United as a possible suitor.

The 20-year-old winger recently made headlines when his father delivered an inflammatory interview about his son’s future at Barcelona.

The player’s dad confirmed this to COPE: “Yes, I am upset as a father, just like any other father. Because watching Ansu play so little irritates you. I assure them that we are deserving of much better. While Ansu was playing before being hurt, he was surrounded by Messi, [Luis] Suarez, [Ousmane] Dembele, and [Antoine] Griezmann.

“It irritates me that they just give him one, two, or three minutes. The strikers are fantastic, but we’re talking about Ansu Fati from the Spanish national team, who is not just any lad. He’s a young man who departed La Masia. What are you going to offer him if you don’t give him that? Ansu is deserving of much more; we’re talking about Barcelona’s tenth.”

Romano said on House of Champions: A CBS Soccer Podcast that this current d/r/a/m/a might lead to the player joining a Premier League team in the future.

He went on to clarify why the Red Devils would be in the running, stating: “Well, I believe something might happen with Premier League teams since they have always been interested in Ansu Fati.

“It was Manchester United two years ago, and other teams a year ago who inquired about Ansu Fati’s predicament.

“But there is one point where we have seen public remarks from the father Bori Fati, but from what I gather Ansu Fati plans to remain in Barcelona.

“He’d want to remain at Barca. He wants to f𝔦ɡҺт and remain in Barcelona.”
