Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mane, former Liverpool teammates, reconnected in the Middle East ahead of their Saudi Pro League debuts this weekend.
Henderson, 33, left Liverpool last month to join Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq, where he will earn £700,000 per week.
Meanwhile, Mane left Bayern for Al-Nassr after a difficult year in Germany, when he scored 12 goals and assisted six times in 38 appearances.
The Senegalese forward, 31, who earns a whopping £650,000 per week, is expected to start alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.
And the two Liverpool legends, who won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup together on Merseyside, ran into one other in Saudi Arabia a year after Mane’s departure from the club.
Henderson and Mane were pleased to see each other ahead of the Saudi Pro League’s opening weekend.
On Monday, Al-Ettifaq will meet Al-Nassr.
Despite the fact that they will be opponents, the couple embraced and smiled as they donned their respective uniforms.
And a surprised Mane added, “I can’t believe it.”
Both men have already appeared for their clubs.
Mane appeared in two Arab Club Champions Cup matches, while Henderson captained an Al-Ettifaq friendly.
Last season, Al-Ettifaq finished 11th out of 16 teams in the Saudi Pro League league.
Al-Nassr finished third, six points behind champions Al-Ittihad of Nuno Espirito Santo.
