‘It was never easy’ – Tom Brady’s ex-wife Gisele reflects on divorce after 13 years

Gisele Bündchen has spoken out about how she dealt with the breakup of her marriage to Tom Brady.

The 43-year-old supermodel reminisced on how she maintained her mental health during her highly publicized divorce from the 46-year-old NFL player, which was finalized in October, in a new interview with Vogue Brazil.

“I’ve always believed that every situation, no matter how difficult, has something to teach us and happens for our benefit.” Breakups are never pleasant, especially when the media is speculating at every turn,” Bündchen told the magazine.

She went on to say, “I tried to focus on my children, my health, and my projects and dreams.”

Bündchen and Brady have a 13-year-old son, Benjamin Rein, and a 10-year-old daughter, Vivian Lake. The quarterback also has a 15-year-old kid with his ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan.

The former Victoria’s Secret Angel also revealed her attitude to self-care and wellness in her chat with the magazine.

“There are three things that I consider fundamental to feeling good: eating healthy, exercising daily, and taking time to rest your mind and body,” she says.

The Brazilian native has already spoken openly about her bad behaviors as a teenage model. In her 2018 memoir “Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life,” she described how, in her twenties, she smoked cigarettes and drank a bottle of wine and three Frappachinos every day to cope with anxiety.

Bündchen reflected on how she learned to prioritize her health and set a good example for others in the modeling industry.

“I had to go through difficult times in my life to understand the importance of making healthy choices in my life, and I’m very happy to share that today,” Bündchen explained. “I don’t consider it a responsibility, but I am eager to share my knowledge with as many people as possible.”

Bündchen also explained why she earlier stated that she feels better at 40 than she did at 20 years old.

“Maturity has brought me better acceptance and understanding of myself,” she explained. “Today, I realize that my greatest wealth is my health, which is necessary for me to live a happy life and have the energy to pursue my dreams.”

Though Brady and Bündchen’s marriage ended in divorce, the two appear to have maintained a cordial connection after the divorce.

On Tuesday, the model expressed her support for her ex-husband when he wrote an emotional Instagram message. After celebrating his 46th birthday in Africa with Vivian and Jack, Bündchen left a praying hand emoji on Brady’s article, in which he reminisced on his life and relationships.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion reflected on the “next chapter” of his life amid reports that he is dating model Irina Shayk. Brady’s message included images of his family and the locations he saw on his trip.

“It was another special reminder that life is TRULY about relationships and memories…” he wrote of his vacation. “I’ve had a lot of time to reflect and be grateful for all the incredible blessings this past week of my birthday.”

“I never imagined as a youngster growing up in San Mateo that my life would become what it has… I’ve seen a lot in my first 45 years, but what I’ve enjoyed most are the people I’ve shared the most life-changing moments with….my children, my family, my loved ones, and friends, and all of you have contributed so much to this incredible/adventurous life.
