EXCL: Erik ten Hag keen to sell SIX more Man United players to welcome TWO more signings

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is apparently looking to offload additional players this summer in order to cut their rather bloated team. This summer, United spent heavily, bringing in Mason Mount, Andre Onana, and Rasmus Hojlund all for hefty money.

Ten Hag is also believed to want more arrivals, with Sofyan Amrabat being one name that has been widely mentioned.

After the departures of David de Gea and Tom Heaton, as well as the likely sale of Dean Henderson, a backup goalkeeper is also on the wish list.

According to the Mirror, additional outgoings are required for United to bring in more players while still balancing the books after spending more than £170 million.

The sales of Anthony Elanga, Alex Telles, and Zidane Iqbal have been the only ones to generate revenue at Old Trafford this summer, and even those were for minor sums.

Man United’s pursuit of another goalkeeper and a midfielder suggests that further departures are possible before the transfer window closes.

Both Scott McTominay and Fred have been linked with moves away, but no club has yet to meet United’s asking prices.

McTominay and teammate Harry Maguire have reportedly been linked to West Ham United, although their bids have so far fallen short of Man United’s valuations.

Fred’s five-year contract with the club may be coming to an end, and the club may have to take a significant financial hit on the Brazilian midfielder.

The 30-year-old has been valued at £20 million, a significant fall from the £47 million United paid Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018.

Donny van de Beek, the club’s forgotten man, may also be on his way out after failing to make an impression in three years, with Real Sociedad reportedly interested.

Even a six-month loan transfer to Everton in 2021-22 was cut short by injury, with the Dutchman appearing in just seven games, and he did so again last season with United despite being reunited with his manager at Ajax.

Given Henderson’s request to play first-team football, which appears improbable after the arrival of Onana, a new backup goalkeeper is on the agenda.

A transfer to Nottingham Forest, where Henderson was on loan last season, now appears to be off the table after the club signed agreement with Arsenal for Matt Turner.

Eric Bailly, on the other hand, should have no trouble finding a new club, since the Ivorian has suitors in Saudi Arabia and the Premier League.

Bailly played last season on loan with Marseille in Ligue 1 but was frequently used as a substitute under Igor Tudor, but Fulham and Saudi Pro League clubs appear to be interested in his services.

If Bailly and Maguire leave, Man United will be left with only Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, and Victor Lindelof as central defensive alternatives, and the club may look to add another player in that position.
