Whatever transpires over the coming days, weeks, or years, LeBron James has left a legacy that will live on forever. His presence in the league has been absolutely monumental for the past 20 years. The King is deserving of the title “greatest of all time” because he has broken numerous records and received numerous awards. James still performs well despite being one of the older players still active today.
James averaged 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game while shooting 50% from the field the previous season. As a 38-year-old, it is practically impossible to obtain such statistics. He overtook Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on the list to become the all-time leader in points, though. Additionally, LeBron contributed to the Los Angeles Lakers’ successful playoff run. With Anthony Davis handling the scoring chores, he had a game average of 24.5 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists.
But sadly, in the Western Conference Finals, the Lakers suffered a brutal loss to the Denver Nuggets. The Lakers gave it their all despite having a difficult regular season, but Denver swept LA in four games, pulling off a stunning upset. LeBron James, feeling discouraged, declared that he didn’t think he would continue playing. However, James promised his followers a comeback at the 2023 ESPY Awards ceremony.
LeBron James teases his brand new Nike LeBron 21 Purple Rain colorway
Recently, LeBron James hinted to a brand-new hue for the Nike LeBron 21. The color scheme pays homage to the late great Prince, one of his favorite musicians. James shared a photo of the shoe on Instagram with the words to one of the iconic musician’s most well-known songs, “Purple Rain” as the comment. Prince was well-known for wearing purple, and same color is glazed on the shoe. The Nike swoosh and various accents on the item are emphasized in gold. This colorway is a notable release since it accurately captures the Lakers’ colors. And this album’s release has special significance for James.
On April 21, 2016, Prince died after an unintentional fentanyl overdose. James once remarked, “I just think we’re losing a lot of our heroes a lot earlier than expected,” in reference to the mythology. He was unique as an artist and for the things he contributed to music and people’s lives, including my mother and those who grew up in that time period. I send my condolences to his entire family, and it was heartbreaking to see someone so gifted pass away so suddenly.
At a Cleveland Cavaliers Halloween party, LeBron James once performed Purple Rain while costumed as Prince. He entered the stage while carrying an electric guitar and sporting attire that was characteristic of Prince. This Nike release has to rank among the most significant ones thus far. Last week, while working out with his youngest son, Bryce Maximus, James teased his Nike LeBron 21s. The shoe’s release is anticipated for later this year.
