Superstar Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets once lost control and injured his teammates.
Superstar Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets had impressive composure throughout the whole postseason, although he did lose his temper once on the way to the championship. Nuggets champion Thomas Bryant recently spoke on the Gil’s Arena show and discussed Jokic’s explosive moment in front of his teammates.
Bryant remarked that it was the one instance during the playoffs when the player genuinely displayed emotion. “I believe we ran a play incorrectly and lost the ball twice or three times in a row. I don’t care about scoring, just play the proper manner, he simply said. We all said, “Okay, this dude locked in now,” during a time out. The absurd part is that he isn’t concerned with winning. The guy is extremely passive, like he wants to pass the ball and get players open. It’s a breeze to have fun with him.
Jokic wasn’t furious about anything other than the Nuggets’ improper play, as Bryant clarified. While other players may be more gifted physically, Jokic’s method of playing the game is unparalleled in many respects, which is partly what makes him and his team so brilliant.
Since fans rarely get a behind-the-scenes look at how Jokic functions during a game, it was interesting to hear Bryant share this tale. The Finals MVP, who was mostly reserved, had one instance when he spoke up passionately.
