The New England Patriots will kick off the 2023 NFL season at home, and with Tom Brady in the building.
On September 10, the Patriots will visit the Philadelphia Eagles at Gillette Stadium in Week One, and Brady will be recognized by the organization where he spent the most of his career and won six Super Bowls.
He then went on to win another Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before retiring once and then again this offseason.
Brady remains unretired for the time being, despite reports to the contrary. He will, however, travel to New England for a ceremony at the start of the new season.
Tom Brady’s offer from Robert Kraft
This invitation to properly celebrate was issued to Brady by Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who has frequently portrayed the quarterback as a son.
“I’m happy to tell you and your audience that I invited him back to come here and be with us at the opening game and let the fans in New England thank him for the great services he gave us over the last 20 years,” Robert Kraft said to NFL Network.
“This will be the first of many celebrations to honor Tom Brady and thank him for what he did for us during his 20-year career with the New England Patriots.”
“The NFL is over a century old, and the greatest player in the history of the game played right here in Foxborough in 20% of those years.”
Brady then appeared to publicly acknowledge his acceptance of the offer, replying to an NFL Instagram post about the ceremony with praying and heart emojis.
Another return to New England for Tom Brady
It won’t be the first time the superstar quarterback returns to Gillette Stadium, as he did with the Buccaneers.
Brady grabbed the win in October 2021, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won 19-17 thanks to a Ryan Succop field goal late in the fourth quarter.
This time, he’ll undoubtedly be rooting for the Patriots to win as they face the Super Bowl runner-up from last year.
