As the Premier League season approaches, a new element has surfaced in Liverpool’s pursuit of Brighton & Hove Albion player Moises Caicedo.
Since the exits of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho earlier this summer, the Reds have been hunting for a midfielder.
What is the latest on Moises Caicedo’s transfer to Liverpool?
Caicedo appeared to be heading to either Brighton or Chelsea this summer, with Fabrizio Romano claiming continued talks between the two teams for the midfielder.
According to Matt Law of The Daily Telegraph, Liverpool, and by extension owners FSG, have outbid the London club for Caicedo, although the player’s choice looks to be a move to Stamford Bridge this summer.
This comes after the Reds reportedly had several bids for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia refused, while Chelsea also reportedly had a proposal rejected for the Saints midfielder.
With both teams apparently chasing the same players, with Chelsea reportedly outbidding Liverpool for Lavia and vice versa for Caicedo, it remains to be seen how both sides will line up on the season’s opening day.
Given that the Blues had an £80 million proposal for Caicedo rejected, according to Romano, Liverpool’s bigger offer is one to watch.
